Suspect Still at Large after Comerica Bank Robbery

Santa Cruz, CA…On Friday, August 13, 2021, at 2:19 pm, the Santa Cruz Police Department was alerted to a report of a bank robbery at the Comerica Bank on 25 River Street.

Before the Officers arrival, the suspect involved had already fled the scene by bicycle. The masked male suspect was successful in stealing an undisclosed amount of cash.

SCPD determined through statements from witnesses and security footage; the suspect presented a note to the bank teller with a drawing of a bomb on it demanding money. No weapon was seen. Fortunately, no one inside the bank was injured.

At this time, the suspect description is limited to a male of unknown race and unknown age.
Officers quickly canvassed the surrounding area and located evidence where the suspect changed clothes to evade capture.

Detectives are following up with additional witnesses and scouring through video surveillance. The investigation is ongoing.
