Speed Contest Teenagers Arrested in Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz, CA… CHP patrolling Highway 1 last night stopped two cars that were racing at speeds over 100 MPH between Santa Cruz and Capitola.

Both drivers were stopped for participating in a speed contest when CHP noticed signs and symptoms of impaired driving. Officers conducted a DUI investigation which resulted in both drivers being arrested for DUI and both cars were towed away. One of the involved vehicles had a teenage driver with several teenage passengers.

This is a sobering reminder and that Reckless & Distracted driving continues to be a leading cause of death for teens in America and the outcome could have been very different.
