Santa Cruz, CA…Let this photo be a grim reminder of the fire danger in Santa Cruz County. “Every year, multiple fires are started by fireworks in the City. Drought and windy conditions create an extreme risk for fires caused by fireworks in wildland and urban spaces. This year the risk of a fire spreading and causing the loss of life and property is higher than ever. Don’t be the reason for the next CZU fire,” said Fire Chief Jason Hajduk.

Fireworks are illegal in the City and County of Santa Cruz, including the possession, discharge, or sale of all fireworks, including those marked “safe and sane.”
