Los Angeles, CA…Food 4 Less, the nation’s leading price-impact supermarket chain, announced it raised $154,559 during the month of May to assist hunger relief efforts in the communities served by its stores. The funds were raised through the supermarket company’s annual Bringing Hope to the Table campaign that was carried out in all Food 4 Less stores in Southern California, southern Nevada and greater Chicago, and Foods Co supermarkets in Central and Northern California from April 28 to May 11.
Monies raised through this year’s Bringing Hope to the Table campaign will benefit food banks that are members of Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. Food banks receiving support from Food 4 Less/Foods Co’s 2013 Bringing Hope to the Table promotion are:
Community Food Bank (Fresno, CA)
Feeding America San Diego (San Diego, CA)
FIND Food Bank (Indio, CA)
Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano (Concord, CA)
Food Bank for Monterey County (Salinas, CA)
Foodbank of Northwest Indiana (Gary, IN)
Foodlink for Tulare County (Tulare, CA)
FOOD Share (Oxnard, CA)
Greater Chicago Food Depository (Chicago, IL)
Los Angeles Regional Foodbank (Los Angeles, CA)
San Francisco Food Bank (San Francisco, CA)
Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County (Irvine, CA)
Second Harvest Food Bank Serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties (Riverside, CA)
Three Square Foodbank (Las Vegas, NV)
During the promotion, each time a Food 4 Less or Foods Co customer purchased a participating item they showed their support for food banks in their community. Participating products and items from numerous vendor partners were marked with special shelf tags to indicate their pledge to support Bringing Hope to the Table.
“We are grateful to our customers and vendors who chose to make a difference in the lives of hungry families,” said Bryan Kaltenbach, president of Food 4 Less. “Thanks to their generosity, Feeding America food banks in the communities served by our stores will be even better positioned to provide food and resources to the hungry.”
Since 2006, Food 4 Less and Foods Co have contributed more than $1.5 million in food and funds to local food banks through the annual Bringing Hope to the Table campaign.
“As a neighborhood grocery store in communities across California, southern Nevada and the greater Chicago area, we know we have a responsibility to make a difference in the lives of our customers and neighbors,” said Kaltenbach. “As our Bringing Hope to the Table campaign demonstrates, we will continue to do our part in the fight to end hunger.”
Last year, Food 4 Less/Foods Co provided more than $4 million in cash and in-kind donations to organizations focused on health, education, the fight against hunger, developing our youth, and the environment.
