Fatal Medical Emergency Causes Collision On Mount Herman Road

Santa Cruz, CA…A Scotts Valley man was driving his 2007 Chevy eastbound on Mount Herman Road, West of Locatelli Lane within the number two lane at approximately 30 mph. The driver sustained a debilitating medical emergency, and as a result the vehicle traveled in a northeasterly direction across the westbound lanes of Mount Herman Road.

The Chevy then traveled off the roadway and into a ditch where the vehicle subsequently collided with a tree and came to a rest on its wheels facing in an easterly direction. Following the collision due to the medical emergency, the driver was incapacitated and unable to move prior to the arrival of emergency medical assistance.

The driver suffered a debilitating medical condition that caused his vehicle to travel off the roadway. The driver was subsequently transported by AMR to Dominican Hospital for the medical condition. The driver sustained no injuries as a result of the traffic collision.
