Santa Cruz, CA…On September 22, 2013, at approximately 0717′ hours, a rear-end collision occurred on SR-l, north of Market Street resulting in an overturned vehicle and a car tire. The driver ofthe Mitsubishi was traveling southbound on SR-l, north ofthe Market Street undercrossing, approaching the Chevrolet’s location. The driver ofthe Chevrolet was traveling southbound on SR-l, north ofthe Market Street undercrossing, directly ahead of the Mitsubishi.
Due to the Mitsubishi driver’s level of intoxication, the driver drove the Mitsubishi directly into the rear of the Chevrolet causing the Chevrolet to travel in a south-westerly direction, toward the west shoulder, and catch on tire. The Chevrolet carne to rest on its wheels and continued to burn. The Mitsubishi overturned and came to rest on its left side in the center median. The driver of the Chevrolet suffered minor injuries and Was not transported. The driver ofthe Mitsubishi sustained minor injuries and was not transported. The right front passenger ofthe Mitsubishi sustained minor injuries and Was transported to Dominican Hospital. The rear passenger of the Mitsubishi sustained moderate injuries and was flown to Valley Medial Center. All three lanes of southbound SR-l were closed for approximately one hour for scene cleanup.
