Santa Cruz, CA…The California Highway Patrol has reported an accident that occurred on Wednesday October 26th at approximately 8:25 p.m. on Soquel Drive. Party one was driving his 2006 Audi westbound on Soquel Drive approaching Rosedale Avenue at an undetermined speed in lane one.

Party number 2 was driving his Bianchi bicycle westbound on Soquel drive east of Rosedale avenue at an unknown rate of speed west of party one’s vehicle in lane one. The front of the Audi collided with the rear of the Bianchi bicycle and the bicyclist was ejected from his bike. CHP officers responded to the scene to investigate. One way traffic control was established for approximately four and a half hours during the investigation. The bicyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 8:39 p.m.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
