Scotts Valley, CA…The driver of a Toyota Tacoma was traveling northbound on SR-17 north of Mount Hermon Road at a high rate of speed when the Tacoma overtook a slower moving Toyota Camry. The Tacoma struck the rear of the Camry causing the Camry to lose control and spin-out. The Tacoma overturned and fully ejected the driver who succumbed to injuries sustained and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Camry was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for minor injuries. This collision is still under investigation and alcohol and/or drugs have not been ruled out as a contributing factor.

Fatal victim information is releasable through the Santa Cruz County Sheriff Coroner’s Office.
