13 Acre Vegetation Fire Robinson Canyon Rd

Monterey, CA – A vegetation fire was reported at about 12:40 p.m. today on Robinson Canyon Rd near Carmel Valley (Monterey County). CAL FIRE responded to the incident with 5 fire engines, 2 chief officers, an air tactical observation unit, 4 air tankers, 2 helicopters with helitack crew, 1 bulldozer, and 4 hand crews. Monterey County Regional Fire Protection also responded with 4 fire engines and 2 water tenders. A total of about 140 firefighters responded to the fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found approximately 5 acres already involved in grass and brush near Robinson Canyon Road. CALFIRE Air Tankers dropped retardant to slow the spread of the fire until ground resources could arrive on scene. The fire was contained at 13 acres at 3:48pm.
