Triple Fatality Collision On State Route 1

Santa Barbara, CA…On February 28th at approximately 4:24 p.m. a white Buick was traveling south on SR-1, north of Wilder, at an unknown rate of speed. The driver of the Buick lost control, likely due to speed and over correction, and crossed over the double yellow lines into the northbound lane. The Buick was struck broadside by a Chevy Blazer traveling North.

The right front passenger of the Buick died on scene and the driver was life flighted to Valley Medical Center where he succumbed to injuries sustained at approximately 7:00 p.m. The driver of the blazer was transported to Dominican then life flighted to Natividad in Salinas where she succumbed to injuries sustained at approximately 9:00 p.m.There is no indication of drugs and alcohol, though that can change after a toxicology screening. Both lanes were closed several hours for the investigation. The cause of this collision is under investigation.
