Watsonville, CA…On 11/19/2013, at approximately 12:45 PM, a woman from Watsonville, was traveling northbound on SR1 in a 1998 Ford Explorer. For unknown reasons, the vehicle swerved to the right off of SR1. The Explorer traveled through a fence, across Soquel Dr., into a parking lot where it was propelled into the air, the Explorer collided with a wooden retaining wall and came to rest in the driveway of a residence on Soquel Dr. The driver was treated at the scene and transported to Dominican Hospital via AMR ground ambulance where she was pronounced deceased. No other vehicles were involved in the collision and the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. This investigation is still ongoing, however, at this time, DUI does not appear to be a factor.

CHP Office R. Valdez is handling the investigation.

The victims name will be available through the Santa Cruz County Coroners office following notification of kin.
