Santa Cruz, CA…This morning at approximately 4:20am an unidentified male pedestrian was walking on the east road edge of southbound Hwy 17 in the #1 lane. For unknown reasons, the pedestrian entered the roadway and was struck by a Hyundai Sonata being driven by a Scotts Valley man.

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was determined to be deceased at the scene. The collision is still under investigation.

From all of us at The Daily Tide our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and those affected by this accident. Our thoughts are especially with the driver of the Hyundai.
