Structure Fire, King City (Monterey County)

Monterey, CA – At about 1:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013, South Monterey County Fire Protection District (FPD)/CAL FIRE responded to a call for a structure fire on Vista Place in Pine Canyon, southwest of King City (Monterey County). South Monterey County FPD responded with assistance from CAL FIRE, King City Volunteer Fire Department, and Fort Hunter Ligget Fire Department; there were about 20 firefighters on scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a well involved fire, engulfing the two-story single family home. The residents had already evacuated prior to fire personnel. The house was a total loss. There were no injuries as a result of this fire. The residents are receiving assistance from friends and family. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
South Monterey County FPD partners in a cooperative agreement with CAL FIRE for chief officer coverage, training, and administrative functions. South Monterey County FPD is a volunteer department that has three stations in its district.
