Rescue Ensues After Rising Tide Strands 14 On Beach

Davenport, CA…On April 2nd, 2017, rising tides stranded 14 people at Panther Beach leaving them with no way to exit the beach. Cal-Fire arrived on scene and rigged a raising system to haul the people to safety.

CHP helicopter H-30 respondedfrom Napa and quickly assisted in lifting several people to safety. All the stranded beach goers were safely lifted and nobody was injured. Panther Beach is on the coast of SR-1, north of the city of Santa Cruz. Please refer to CHP Santa Cruz Facebook page for photos of the incident. CHP, Santa Cruz Fire, and Cal-Fire out of Santa Cruz worked as a team to quickly remove the
stranded people.
