New Cars Make History at the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

Pebble Beach, CA…The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is most often recognized as the world’s premier celebration of collector cars, but an increasing number of new cars also make history here. While 260 historic automobiles compete for top honors on the event’s main show field on August 18 along the famed 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links, more than 20 concepts and new production cars will be exhibited on the event’s “concept lawn”—what is normally the practice putting green in front of The Lodge at Pebble Beach.

About 20 concepts and new production cars will be making world or North American debuts at various events and venues during Pebble Beach Automotive Week and most of these cars will gather on the concept lawn for the week’s grand conclusion, the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach Resorts.

“We’re committed to showcasing the very best of the automotive world, past and present,” said Sandra Button, Chairman of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. “We want to celebrate the whole of automotive history—and we’re thrilled to be making history, too.”

The first concours competitions held in Paris in the early 1900s focused on showcasing the latest automotive styles and technology, and the same was true for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance when it began in 1950. But the Pebble Beach Concours grew to prominence by focusing on classic cars, as did other modern concours that followed its lead. Then, in the 1990s, the Pebble Beach Concours began to more often pair old with new, displaying or debuting the latest concepts in small numbers.

Now hosting a dynamic combination of early cars and the latest debuts, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has something to offer every auto enthusiast.

The following concepts and new models are scheduled to be exhibited publicly during the forthcoming Pebble Beach Automotive Week.
