Multi-Casualty Vehicle Accident near King City (Monterey County)

King City, CA…At approximately 6:17 this morning, firefighters from the Southern Monterey County Fire Protection District (SOMOCO) responded to a vehicle accident on Highway 101, about four miles north of King City. SOMOCO responded with a Battalion Chief, fire engine, and squad, and was assisted by CAL FIRE with two fire engines. California Highway Patrol and AMR also responded.

On arrival, firefighters found a two vehicle accident with a total of seven people involved. The accident resulted in two fatalities. The five other victims were transported to local area hospitals.

The number 2 lane of southbound Highway 101 was temporarily closed during this incident.

SOMOCO wants to remind the public to drive safely this holiday season. Seatbelts save lives – use them. Don’t text while driving. And don’t drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Drive safely this year so you can enjoy the holidays next year.
