City Seeking Interested Community Members for the Short-term Vacation Rental Working Committee

Santa Cruz, CA…The City Council, on October 25th, adopted a 45-day moratorium on establishing new residential vacation rentals in the City of Santa Cruz. As part of this action, the Council authorized the formation of a 10-member short-term rental/vacation rental working committee to be comprised of various community stakeholders which may include residents, neighborhood group representatives, housing advocates, real estate professionals, the tourism and hospitality industries, and vacation rental operators to study the issue and develop recommendations.

Given the high level of interest from the community on this issue, the City Council has created an application process to help select the working group membership.  If you are interested in participating on this working committee, please follow this link to find the application.  Completed applications must be submitted to the City for consideration no later than Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 5:00p.m.

Working committee meeting times and dates will be selected following the formation of the committee. The working group will be charged with formulating recommendations in the coming months, which will be presented to the Planning Commission and City Council for review.
